Talk Therapy
You don’t have to have a serious mental health diagnosis to benefit from talk therapy. Our therapists work with people from all walks of life and all experiences. Talking with a therapist does not make a person weak. In fact, it means that you value the quality of your life and relationships. Everyone can benefit from a little “tune up” now and again. Talk therapy is not just about talking about your problems. A qualified therapist can provide:
Education about how your mind processes your experiences and emotions
Techniques for navigating your emotions
Build healthy behaviors and habits
Relate to your thoughts differently
Therapy is an investment in yourself. Your well-being. Our therapists take a wholistic approach to your wellness, and talk therapy is a large piece of that.
While therapy can work for anyone, you should certainly seek a highly-qualified professional therapist if:
Your thoughts, feelings, or behaviors are keeping you from living the life you desire (losing sleep, not doing things you’ve previously enjoyed, avoiding friends and family)
Your thoughts, feelings, or behaviors are causing physical pain (binge eating, self harm, suicidal thoughts)
Your thoughts, feelings, or behaviors are impacting your ability to complete everyday tasks (self care, feeding, caring for family, attending work or completing work tasks)
Perhaps you’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t go well. It’s easy to assume that therapy doesn’t work when that happens. However, what really happened when that session (or those sessions) didn’t work out was likely more about the therapeutic relationship. Just like in real life relationships, you will need to make a good connection and feel safe with your therapist. This is known as the therapeutic relationship. Sometimes it doesn’t work between a client and a very good therapist based on the lack of that therapeutic relationship. It has nothing to do with a flaw in either the therapist or the client. Our therapist believe in that therapeutic relationship as a key to successful talk therapy. Your first few sessions may be used to evaluate whether you both feel that there is a path towards your success in therapy.

At some point, everyone experiences stress, sadness, grief, feelings of anxiousness or being overwhelmed. Online and print resources, mentors, and friends and family can certainly help us gain perspective, but a qualified therapist can provide the toolkit that is designed together specifically for you. In this way, your work together will often be safer, faster and more effective than one-size-fits-all platitudes and advice. Our professionally-certified therapists are experts in how people process thoughts and emotions.
